Compress JPG photos
Drop your JPGs, pick a quality, and download smaller files. The compression runs on your device, so the photos are never uploaded.

- 01
Add your photos
Drop one or many JPGs. Each shows its original size straight away.
- 02
Pick a quality
Balanced is the sweet spot — a big size cut with no visible loss. Smaller file pushes harder; Best quality barely touches it.
- 03
Compare and download
Open the before/after slider on any photo, then download one at a time or all as a ZIP.
How JPG compression trades size for detail
JPG is already a lossy format. Re-saving it at a lower quality discards more of the fine high-frequency detail your eye is least sensitive to — which is why a photo can lose 70% of its size and still look the same at normal viewing distance.
Below roughly quality 60, blocky artefacts start to show in smooth areas like skies. Balanced stays well above that line.
Getting the smallest file that still looks right
Resize first if the image is larger than it needs to be. A 6000px photo shown at 1200px on a website is carrying five times the pixels it needs — the Resize tab fixes that, and the compression afterwards has far less to do.
Turn on Remove camera data (EXIF) to strip the model, date and GPS location. It also shaves a little off the file.
Nothing is uploaded
Every photo is decoded, resized and re-encoded by your own browser using a canvas. No server sees the image, so there is no daily quota and personal photos stay on your device.
The before/after slider reads both versions locally so you can judge the quality before you commit to a setting.
Questions
Are my photos uploaded to compress them?
No. Compression runs in your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server.
How much smaller will a JPG get?
Balanced quality commonly cuts 50–80% with no visible loss at normal viewing size.
Will compressing lower the quality?
Slightly, by design. At Balanced the change is not visible; Smaller file trades a little more detail for a smaller file.
Can I compress many photos at once?
Yes. Add up to 100, compare any of them with the before/after slider, and download individually or as a ZIP.
Does it remove GPS and camera data?
It can. Turn on Remove camera data (EXIF) to strip the model, date and location.
