Fill in your details
Name and phone are enough. Add email, company, job title, website and address if they belong on the card.
- 02
Keep it short
Every field makes the code denser and harder for a camera to read. Put the essentials in, leave the rest for the conversation.
- 03
Put it somewhere useful
A business card, an email signature, a conference badge, the bottom of a poster, or a sticker on a laptop.
What a contact QR code holds
The code contains a vCard — the same plain-text format your phone uses when it sends a contact by message. When a camera reads it, the phone offers to create a new contact with the fields already filled in.
Because the details live inside the code itself, there is nothing to load and no page to visit. It works with the phone in flight mode, and there is no link that can break later or track who scanned it.
Why not just link to your website
A link is a redirect: the person scans, waits for a page, then hunts for a “save contact” button. Many give up. A vCard code puts the contact straight into the add-contact screen with one tap, offline, with no analytics in between.
The trade-off is that a printed vCard code cannot be edited. If your phone number changes, the printed cards are wrong. If your details change often, a link to a page you control is the better choice — for everyone else, the vCard wins.
Keeping the code scannable
A QR code grows denser as you add text. A name and phone number produce a code with big, forgiving squares. Add a long job title, a full postal address and two websites and the same physical square holds four times as many modules, which is where scanning starts to fail on cheap cameras in bad light.
If you must include everything, print it larger and keep good contrast — dark code on a light background. The generator warns you when the contrast is too low to scan reliably.
Questions
Are my contact details uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything is processed in your browser, and no request carrying your details is ever made. There is no account and no database behind this page.
Can I put a photo in the vCard?
No. A photo would have to be encoded inside the code itself, which makes it far too dense to scan. Contact photos belong in a linked profile, not in a printed square.
Can I change the details later?
Not on a code that is already printed — it is static by design, which is also why it works offline. Generate a new one when your details change.
Does it work with iPhone and Android?
Yes. Both scan vCard codes from the built-in camera and offer to create the contact. No app is needed on either.
What size should I print it?
About 2 cm square is the practical minimum for a short vCard on a business card. Use SVG so the edges stay crisp at whatever size your printer runs.
